5781 is finally upon us and we are looking forward to having you share these High Holy Days with us at the Jewish Community of Ojai!
Although we usually gather as a community in our sanctuary filled with friends and family, in a careful measure of safety we are bringing these High Holy Days to you virtually, to share in the comfort of your own home.
Beginning this Friday evening, September 18 at 7:00 PM, we will be broadcasting the services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur over a special link to Zoom.
We have arranged for you to be able to test your connection this Wednesday and Thursday, September 16 and 17, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm each day, so you won’t have to scramble on Friday evening. Here is the information for you to be able to test your connection:
1.For the best experience, we recommend that you use a full-sized computer to view the broadcasts. If not, you will also be able to view them on a tablet or phone.
2.Download the Zoom client to your desktop (https://zoom.us/download). This is how you will have the best functionality.
3.Make sure that the volume on your computer speakers is turned up
4.You can use any internet browser, however Chrome, Safari and Firefox are best
5.Be sure you have a solid internet connection. If you are connected wirelessly, be sure you are within a short distance of your router. Having a wired ethernet cable connected between your computer and your router is always best.
6.Open a browser and click on the link below to start your test. THIS IS THE SAME LINK YOU WILL USE TO ACCESS THE SERVICES THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, AND FOR YOM KIPPUR, TOO.
7.You should arrive at a page that looks like this (below) that also has a video created by Rabbi Lisa:
Please don’t hesitate to email, call or text Josh Kline if you have any difficulties connecting to either the test page or the actual broadcast. He is there to assist.
As a closing note, the Jewish Community of Ojai will graciously and gratefully accept your holiday season donations by clicking on this link that will take you to JCO's Donation page on our website. Or you can send a check to Jewish Community of Ojai, P.O. Box 172, Ojai, CA 93024
