Speaker Series: Hear the Artist, Learn the Story

JCO is extremely fortunate to have 8 beautiful stained-glass windows created by Ojai-based artist Susan Stinsmuehlen-Amend, six of which originally hung in the Jewish Museum of New York.The series of windows are titled “Blessings,” and we are truly blessed to have them enhance our Shabbat and holiday services.Susan will share how the windows came to us and what inspired her to create the additional two windows to complete the collection. Additionally, she will explain the design and symbolism of each window.

Well-known for her work in glass and mixed media, Susan’s work is included in many private and public collections, such as the LA County Museum of Art, Museum of California (Sacramento), Fresno Art Museum and Porch Gallery, Ojai. She served as the first female president of the board of directors of the Glass Art Society from 1984 to 1986.
